Large survival knives

The many uses of a large surivival knife

Large survival knives are widely used for people who enjoy the outdoors. Mountain climbers, campers, hunters, military men or just about all outdoor buffs need this ultra functional knife to keep everything afloat outside the confines of a house.

Bolo knife and machetes were the survival knives used before the 1900’s by the military, outdoorsmen and explorers. Even the bayonet includes the features of a survival knife. History tells us then that these large survival knives evolved from the rudimentary to the more stylish as the years passed.

Imagine yourself stuck in the forest with just one small affordable pocket knife, no fire, no food and obviously no shelter. The pocket knife just could not cut branches or butcher a rabbit. Something a bit larger and sharper could always fit the bill. Large survival knives can do the hardcore job with ease.

Men normally just have this instinct of surviving in the wild. The urban jungle can be considered the wild metaphorically, but city and suburban residents may cringe at the sight of these large survival knives. Other than the butcher’s knife in the kitchen and garden shears, these survival knives barely have a niche in your normal neighborhood. But when the forest becomes your neighborhood and a roasted warthog is the main course for dinner there really is no room for niceties anymore.

Large survival knife is one of the famous collectible knives. It is generally bigger than the usual pocket knife, the blade varies in thickness and there is an array of materials for the handles just like all other knives. The owner purchases a survival knife by its purpose, style and affordability.

Any knife, whether it is one of the combat survival knives or even just typical outdoor knives, can be used for survival especially if it’s the only knife available in the face of an emergency.
